Chris Wardlaw

Chris Wardlaw, PSM OLY, B.Ec (Hons), Dip Ed
As an athlete Chris represented Australia at the 1976 and 1980 Olympic Games (1976: 10,000m and marathon; 1980: marathon), and at four World Cross Country Championships (1975, 1977, 1979, 1981).
Chris was Australian 10,000m champion (1975) and won Victorian state titles at 5,000/10,000m, marathon and cross-country.
Chris won the Sydney City-Surf in 1978, and the San Francisco Bay to Breakers in 1976. He is the only Australian to have won both races.

Chris has coached athletes of all abilities. Many athletes at Club, State and National levels and aspiring runners trying to run their best at all distances including the common persons Everest, a marathon under 5 hours through to sub 2.30 for men and women.
Chris was awarded the Australian Sports Medal in 2000.

In a parallel career Chris has had an extensive role in education across jurisdictions.
Chris is currently Chair of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), and Deputy Chair of the Australian Institute of Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL).
Chris is a Director on the Board of Athletics Australia.
Chris was awarded the Public Service Medal (PSM) in the 2013 Queen’s Birthday Honors list.
Chris was made a fellow of Monash University in 2013
