Connect your Bluetooth Heart Rate monitor

Connect your Bluetooth Heart Rate monitor

How fast is your body going now?

After running for any length of time, your body will adapt to your training, and you will see an increase in your speed and efficiency.

One of the best tools that you can have as an athlete is a Heart Rate Monitor. Heart Rate monitors allow you to run to the training level you should be working and measure your heart’s effort during a workout. Much like driving a car and monitoring the engine’s revs per minute, a heart rate monitor gives you an insight into how fast your heart is working or your beats per minute (BPM).

If you have a Bluetooth Heart Rate monitor, you can connect it to the Yay Train. To connect it, open the app and click on the Settings icon. That’s the picture of the Cog at the top right next to the YayTrain logo.

Select the Heart Rate Monitor option, and then once you are on that screen it will try to establish a connection to a running heart rate monitor. If you can’t see your heart rate monitor, it is likely that it is not running or for some heart rate monitors you need to be wearing them for it to be detected. Most Bluetooth heart rate monitors require you to be wearing them before they start broadcasting.

Once you have established a connection, tap on the selected HRM to see a checkmark next to the selected heart rate monitor. When you have that option selected, every time you go for a run, cycle, or walking workout YayTrain will try and connect to your heart rate monitor if it’s available to record and display your heart rate while running.

When you have worn a heart rate monitor during a workout, you can see your heart rate range in the completed sections and the history.

To see what heart rate zones you should be running at, visit the data center in YayTrain and select the Max Heart Rate option. This will allow you to calculate what based on your personal details. Keep in mind that this is a generic formula for Maximum Heart Rates. A small percentage of the population has heart rates higher and lower than these values, and for serious runners it may serve you to be tested at a sports clinic to calculate your actual maximum heart rate.
